Cushing’s Syndrome: Update on Testing and Medical Treatment

Dr. Ioachimescu is Professor of Medicine and Neurosurgery and the Director for Pituitary and Adrenal Disease Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Before moving to Milwaukee, Dr. Ioachimescu was a Professor of Medicine and Neurosurgery at Emory University in Atlanta.
She trained in Endocrinology in Romania at Carol Davila University and at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
Dr. Ioachimescu has longstanding experience in pituitary and adrenal disorders, including rare conditions such as Cushing’s disease. Dr. Ioachimescu was one of the experts invited to the Consensus Workshop on Cushing’s syndrome organized by Pituitary Society in 2021. Society international consensus guidelines.
Dr. Ioachimescu has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and authored several book chapters. She has had editorial experience with prestigious journals such as Endocrine Reviews, Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinics of North America, Pituitary and Journal of Endocrine Society. A book she co-edited “Pituitary disorders throughout the life cycle” has recently been published.
She was invited to speak at conferences organized by the Endocrine Society, Pituitary Society, American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, International Society of Endocrinology, etc.
Dr. Ioachimescu’s current research is about long-term effects of pituitary hormone alterations on physical and mental health, impact of demographic characteristics on healthcare delivery and research, and novel therapies for acromegaly and Cushing’s syndrome.
