2022 President’s Message

posted: February 17, 2022

Dear Midwest Endocrinology Society Members,

I want to thank you for the great honor of serving you as President of the Midwest Endocrinology Society (MWES). I would like to express my commitment to maintain our Society's focus and goals which include improving the quality of patient care, promotion of innovative research, advocacy and health awareness while creating a professional network for scientific advancement in the field of Endocrinology in the Midwest. We are fortunate to have such an outstanding group of Endocrinologists in this area of the country including in the clinical, academic and research settings.

There is no denying the past couple of years have tested us in various ways, and I recognize the personal and professional sacrifices we all have made to put the needs of our patients first. I hope you share with me a sentiment of pride as we have continued to provide care by fulfilling our roles in health care despite so many challenges.

I would like to thank my predecessor Dr. Michael Tressler who worked tirelessly during the transition from the MN/Midwest American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) chapter towards our now Midwest Endocrinology Society. Using his words, we “landed on our feet” and I would add that we are standing strong and have a very committed and highly motivated Board which will work to continue our mission.

Some of the updates I would like to share with you are that, for the first time, we will be adding an Endocrinology Fellow-in-Training as part of our Board as we must look at opportunities to support and grow the next generation of Endocrinologists. Leadership development at all stages of a member’s career will be one of our new priorities. We also plan on ramping up and develop a robust online presence by creating a community of endocrinologists through our social platform. I encourage you to join the Midwest Endocrinology Facebook Group.

The society will continue to promote fellowship and education for our members. We will continue to create opportunities for education, networking, and sharing our knowledge through continuous medical education activities. Virtual Journal Club Sessions will be one of the activities to foster continued medical education as relevant articles will be discussed. Our main educational activity will continue to be our Midwest Endocrinology Society Annual Meeting which will feature world-renowned speakers discussing the most recent advancements in our field.

All our efforts will continue to focus on providing continued value to your MWES membership. I see a great future for our society, and I invite you help us build a greater fellowship.
